Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- Kenki Nakamura, chairman of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, released a statement on Mar. 13 in denunciation of the U.S.-south Korea joint military drills Key Resolve and Foal Eagle. He strongly protested against the dangerous military rehearsals kicked off by them this year despite the strong opposition from many countries and demanded an immediate halt to them. He went on: The U.S. and south Korea claim that these military exercises are "defensive ones" but they are absolutely intolerable as they are aimed at a preemptive attack on the DPRK. The Korean war ended in a ceasefire. The U.S. and south Korea are staging ceaseless large-scale joint military drills. Those military drills being staged for aggression in a state of ceasefire are a very grave provocation that may spark off a war and they are a breach of the UN Charter. This will not escape world denunciation. We demand a halt to the dangerous military drills and will continue a dynamic struggle for peace on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia. |
