Sports Facilities Built or Remodeled in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- A number of sports facilities have been built or remodeled in the DPRK in recent years. The May Day Stadium on Rungna Islet and Kim Il Sung Stadium at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang were splendidly remodeled on the world level. Sports village took its shape on Yanggak Islet and the sports village in Chongchun Street was rebuilt into a comprehensive sports and cultural center. A winter sports base was built in the area of Masik Pass. Meanwhile, the People's Sports Park appeared on Rungna Islet, covering more than 200 000 square meters and the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium was remodeled. Among the newly built sports facilities are the Munsu Water Park, Mirim Riding Club and the People's Open-air Ice Rink. Sports parks can be seen in different parts of Pyongyang. And stadiums and gymnasiums have been completed or are under construction in provinces, cities and counties. |
