Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and other civic and public organizations of south Korea held a rally before the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 17 at which they denounced the U.S. for stepping up its moves to deploy THAAD in south Korea. From the outset of the year the U.S. talked about the deployment of THAAD in south Korea and officially admitted the fact that the U.S. forces command in south Korea made a survey of the site for THAAD deployment, speakers said. The U.S. made a survey of Phyongthaek of Kyonggi Province, Wonju of south Korean Kangwon Province and Kijang County of Pusan City but did not inform the south Korean authorities of this, they charged. The U.S. and south Korean authorities are claiming that the deployment of THAAD is aimed to cope with the "nukes and missiles of the north" but this is nonsensical and it is very unrealistic in the light of the expenses for its deployment which run into astronomical figures, they noted, and continued: The deployment of THAAD will pose a threat to the security on this land and bring burden to the south Korean economy. They strongly denounced the U.S. for pushing forward its moves to deploy THAAD for achieving its military purpose and realizing its ambition for hegemony. |
