The statement said:

This year marking the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation is a golden opportunity to promote the political dialogue among the countries concerned for the purpose of achieving peace and stability in Northeast Asia, strengthening the relations of confidence among various countries and putting an end to the tragic division of the Korean nation.

This being a hard reality, the U.S. is continuing its presence in south Korea, asserting its rule over the divided Korean nation.

The U.S. ignited the Korean war and committed all sorts of crimes. The war was suspended by the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement but the Korean nation is still undergoing the pain resulting from the division due to outside forces.

The U.S. and south Korea kicked off joint military drills simulating the use of nukes on Mar. 2 this year and are staging even landing rehearsals.

They are not the ones for "defense" but are aimed to serve the U.S. purpose of holding hegemony in Northeast Asia.

Such vicious, self-righteous and dangerous military drills should be stopped at once.

The statement strongly urged the south Korean authorities to respond to the DPRK's call for dialogue to defuse the confrontation between the north and the south and achieve the independent reunification.
