Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il Library and the Juche Youth Group of Ecuador and the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Association released a joint statement on Mar. 30 in protest against the Japanese reactionaries' brigandish acts against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). Kim Jong Il Library and the Juche Youth Group noted: Chongryon is a legitimate overseas citizens' organization representing the DPRK and the chairman and a vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee whose houses were searched are deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK. Therefore, the search is a violation of human rights of Koreans in Japan and, at the same time, a challenge and provocation against the DPRK, a dignified socialist state, and an expression of hostile policy toward it. Strongly denouncing the Japanese authorities' hostile acts against the DPRK and violation of human rights of Koreans in Japan, we demand them fully ensure the legitimate activities of Chongryon and its exercise of independent right. We extend support and solidarity to the struggle of Chongryon to defend the dignity of the DPRK. The Nigeria-Korea Friendship Association in a statement termed the search committed in broad daylight in Japan styling itself a "law-governed state" and "democratic state" an unprecedentedly illegal investigation that offended even the constitution and the criminal procedure law of Japan. The statement urged the Japanese authorities to make an apology and reparation for the untold inhuman crimes committed by Japan against Koreans during its military occupation over Korea for decades in the past century and to stop at once the suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan. |
