Leader Kim Jong Il who was possessed of high sense of moral obligation as a revolutionary and unparalleled artistic talent as his inborn disposition fathomed the Korean people's minds missing for the President very much with the lapse of time and made sure that the people's art festival was organized.

Marshal Kim Jong Un paid deep attention to the successful opening of the festival this significant year.

The art festival brought together more than 1,500 artistes and working people of 50 organizations selected in the capital and local areas. The festival is divided into categories of art troupes, art squads, itinerant art squads and art groups.

Present at the opening ceremony were Choe Ryong Hae, Yang Hyong Sop, Vice-Premier Kim Yong Jin, Minister of Culture Pak Chun Nam who is chairman of the organizing committee of the art festival, officials concerned, participants in the art festival and working people in the city.

Pak Chun Nam said in his inaugural speech that the art festival was a great meaningful political art festival where the participants would represent through dances and songs people's intense loyalty to the great leaders, their unshakable faith in Kim Jong Un and their conviction and optimism about the final victory.

He expressed the belief that the art festival would rev up the atmosphere celebrating the Day of the Sun and help mark the 70th anniversaries of Korea's liberation and the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea as great revolutionary auspicious events.

Then followed an inaugural performance.
