A ceremony of conveying the certificate of honorary citizenship took place on April 6.

Present at the ceremony were personages of the city government, the Ecuadorian national preparatory committee for celebrating the Day of the Sun (birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung), the Canar Provincial Institute for the Friendship and Solidarity with DPRK and the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Independent and Peaceful Reunification, Ecuadorians and members of the group of Korean doctors for helping in Koryo medicine working there.

The citizenship certificate was handed to the head of the group.
