Rodong Sinmun Urges U.S. to Face up to Trend of Times

Pyongyang, April 16 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday in an article calls on the U.S. to give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and make a bold political switchover, though belatedly. The article cites facts to prove that the U.S. anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK is rejected not only by the international community but by the people at home. The policy compelled the DPRK to consolidate its position as a nuclear weapons state, the article says, and goes on: The DPRK is a full-fledged nuclear weapons state whether the U.S. recognizes or not. The U.S. has no other option but to recognize it. This is the strategic circumstances newly created on the Korean peninsula. The international community is accepting it as an established fact. Those who cry out for the "north's scrapping of nuclear program first" are guys with dull sense facing reality, being ignorant of their rival. The U.S. hopes the DPRK, which has made military affairs a top priority, would disarm itself. How fool it is. It is the only way out for the U.S. to face up to the strategic circumstances on the Korean peninsula and the trend of the times, get rid of the anachronistic Cold War-way of thinking at an early date and withdraw its forces from south Korea and Japan in order to save its troops and its waning fate. |
