The main purpose of this service is to indicate, on the basis of the world trend and advanced science and technology and the latest sci-tech achievements made in the country, the most reasonable ways for the relevant units to take in their economic activities such as invention of new products and establishment of new production processes.

The agency successfully built a model regional information service base in South Hamgyong Province of the country under its plan to turn all provincial sci-tech information offices into modern and overall information service bases.

Efforts are now directed to generalizing this model in other provinces in a short period.
