Famous Lake Yonphung in DPRK
|
|
Pyongyang, April 18 (KCNA) -- Lake Yonphung, one of the biggest man-made lakes in the DPRK, is situated between Anju and Kaechon cities. The lake looks like a picture as it is surrounded by hills covered with various species of trees and plants. On the top of a hill north of the lake there is a belvedere, and at the shore of the lake there are sanatorium, rest home and pleasure ground as well as a children's camp. President Kim Il Sung saw to it that this large lake was built to supply irrigation water for inhabitants' farming and named it "Lake Yonphung", which means good harvest for every year. Thanks to leader Kim Jong Il, a monument to the history of the Phyongnam Irrigation Project was erected at the shore of the lake to convey to posterity the President's feat. The lake has become more famous after a holiday camp for scientists was built there under the guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un. |
