The festival is divided into 20 panels including agriculture, light industry, fishery and biology, basic science, energy, CNC, information, construction, land and environmental conservation and medical science.

The festival brought together officials and other people of more than 310 units which proved successful in sci-tech festivals of ministries, national institutions, universities and provinces (municipalities).

Present at the opening ceremony were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Vice-Premier Kim Yong Jin, Choe Sang Gon, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences, officials concerned, scientists, technicians and members of three-revolution teams.
