Members of the bereaved families and thousands of citizens participated in the rally.

Speakers said the rally was sponsored to let the international community know about the actions of the south Korean people calling for finding those still missing, proper salvage of the sunken ferry and probe into the truth behind the disaster.

They said they would carry on their actions to have the ship salvaged and the "enforcement ordinance" retracted.

Then followed a ceremony in token of the tragic disaster.

The fascist security authorities hurled more than 11,000 police troops of 137 companies and 400 police buses into the venue of the rally, creating a terror-ridden atmosphere.
