Present there were Pak Pong Ju, Choe Ryong Hae, Choe Thae Bok, Ri Yong Gil and other senior officials of the party, state and army, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of the party and armed forces organs, Cabinet, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, officers and men of the KPA and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, officials of institutions and industrial establishments, heroes, those who had the honor of being received by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, discharged soldiers, servicemen's families, persons who performed merits in aiding the army, working people in Pyongyang, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas Koreans.

Army General Ri Yong Gil, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and chief of the KPA General Staff, made a report.

The KPA has invariably remained true to the monolithic idea, leadership and tradition, holding the peerless Songun brilliant commanders in high esteem for over 80 years from the early period of the revolution, the reporter said, and went on:

President Kim Il Sung taught the immutable truth of Songun in the grimmest period of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule and founded the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, the first revolutionary armed forces of Juche type, on April 25, Juche 21 (1932).

He led the anti-Japanese armed ranks to defeat the Japanese imperialists. After the liberation of Korea he successfully accomplished the cause of building the regular armed forces under the complicated situation where the people were building a new society. He led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory, inflicting a disgraceful defeat upon the U.S. imperialist aggressors who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world and defending the freedom and independence of the country.

In the whole period of leading the postwar rehabilitation and construction and socialist revolution and construction he consistently applied the principle of attaching importance to arms and giving priority to military affairs and the military line of self-defence, training the KPA as a-match-for-a-hundred revolutionary army, building a modern defence industry and turning the DPRK into a country self-reliant in national defence.

Embarking on the road of the Songun revolutionary leadership in his early years, leader Kim Jong Il considered it as the general task of army building to model the whole army on Kimilsungism, energetically led the struggle to carry it out and developed the KPA into the army of the leader and the party.

He pursued the Songun politics in all fields during the grim ordeals of the Korean revolution, projected the KPA as the pillar and main force for the Songun revolution, put the DPRK on the position of world-class military power and nuclear weapons state and won victory after victory in the struggle to defend socialism.

The KPA is greeting a new heyday of its development as it is holding Marshal Kim Jong Un in high esteem as its supreme commander.

He put forward the great programme for army building in the new century of Juche to model the whole army on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and made sure that the behests of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on army building are thoroughly carried out and all military affairs and activities are conducted the way they did.

The KPA is the army of the supreme commander, matchless army and the standard-bearer and shock brigade implementing the party's idea and defending the party's policies in the van.

The reporter called upon the service personnel and people to step up the building of a thriving socialist nation and bring earlier national reunification and a final victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche by dint of Songun under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.
