It is well evidenced by historical relics such as bronze mirror and cosmetic case.

According to historical data, Korean women used face paint, lipstick, eyebrow pencil and perfume made from natural substances and safflower in the period of Three Kingdoms (3rd century B.C.-7th century A.D.). They also used camellia oil and mixture of beeswax and oil to dress hair.

In the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392) there appeared handicraftsmen specialized in the production of cosmetics.
