It brought together designers, teachers, researchers, technicians, workers and three-revolution team members of design, education and scientific research institutions and many other units.

The festival was aimed to introduce achievements made in the drive for thoroughly carrying out the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of decisively putting designs on higher scientific basis as required by the new century and to generalize them and thus give full play to the potentials of the machine-building industry of the country.

It included machine design display, multi-dimensional design contest, design prize contest and dissemination of cutting-edge design techniques. Displayed and published at the festival were machine product designs conducive to improving the people's living standard, research data on developing design technique and machine design programs.

Also presented there were designs of equipment on the use of natural energy including wind energy, solar heat and geothermal energy.

Highly appreciated at the festival were those that hold weighty significance in settling urgent issues. And certificates were awarded to those who presented them.

Kim Chaek University of Technology, Hamhung University of Hydraulic Engineering and the Ryongsong Machine Designing Institute of the Ryongsong Machine Complex proved successful at the multi-dimensional design contest.
