Leading Papers Blast Japanese Reactionaries' Brutal Suppression of Koreans

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- On the early morning of May 12 the Japanese police stormed houses of three Koreans including the second son of the chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) to arrest them and search their houses. Such action was taken by them on the same charge as what they invented for searching the houses of the chairman and a vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee in March. The police claim that the three Koreans in Japan were involved in the "illegal import of north Korean songi mushrooms" as they allegedly instructed the business. These guiltless Koreans were taken to the police station in handcuffs in their families' presence. Afterwards, the police searched their houses over half a day. Papers here Thursday in commentaries terms it fascist gangsterism which could be committed only by the barbarians in the modern times unaware of rule of law and bereft of humanity. Rodong Sinmun observes that the above-said action once again brought to light mean nature and brutality peculiar to Japan. In less than five minutes after the arrest was made, Japanese media all at once spotlighted the story titled "Second son of Chongryon chairman arrested" that "he is the prime suspect in the case." It is crystal clear to all that the Japanese reactionaries are working hard to build up the public opinion that Koreans in Japan are committing all sorts of illegal acts at the instructions of the chairman and the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon. The recent reckless action of the Japanese reactionaries was prompted by a very sinister political motive as it was a product of Japan's vicious hostile policy towards the DPRK and Chongryon. It was another unpardonable provocation to the dignified DPRK and Chongryon and an illegal and fascist action and the worst human right abuse as it wantonly trampled down upon the dignity and human rights of the Koreans in Japan. Minju Joson observes that the Japanese government should be entirely responsible for the consequences to be entailed by the unprecedented fascist action. |
