Japanese Authorities Urged to Set Free Chongryon Officials
Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Association of Korean Victims of Forcible Drafting and Their Bereaved Families made public a statement on Friday to denounce the Japanese authorities for their suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

The Japanese reactionaries arrested officials of Chongryon without any legal ground this time in the wake of the search for the houses of leading officials of Chongryon in March, the statement recalled, adding this was an extremely hostile provocation against the DPRK, the action which can never be pardoned not only from the viewpoint of international diplomatic practice but in the light of common sense.

It went on:

Japan is censured by the international community for rushing headlong into militarist reinvasion, refusing to admit and repent of the past state-sponsored drafting. This brings to light the bestial nature of Japan trampling down on the dignity of the Korean nation, its miserable victim, in broad daylight. The Koreans are bitterly angered by the recent brutal action.

The Association of Korean Victims of Forcible Drafting and Their Bereaved Families strongly demands the Japanese authorities apologize for inhuman fascist tyranny against Chongryon, a dignified overseas citizens organization, and immediately set free the guiltless persons.

The Japanese reactionaries should stop acting rashly, clearly understanding that their unreasonable suppression of Chongryon is bound to bring them self-destruction.
