Minju Joson Urges Japan to Settle Its Past Crimes as Early as Possible
Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, a former journalist of Asahi Shimbun said in a lecture held at an American university that the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese army is historical truth, urging the Japanese government to apologize for it without fail.

The said Japanese journalist personally covered the testimony made by a victim of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese army and reported the story before any others.

Minju Joson Wednesday in a commentary observes in this regard:

He called for the admission and apology for Japan's past crimes after flying into the U.S. as he was clearly aware that its past sexual slavery was undeniable historical truth and it was legal and moral responsibility for it to make honest apology for those crimes.

It is historical truth which admits of no argument that the above-said sexual slavery was unprecedented hideous crime against humanity.

It is human ethics that a criminal is obliged to apologize to his victim and ask for pardon.

However, Japan's attitude towards its past crimes arouses disappointment and astonishment of the international community.

Japan's foolish acts to embellish its inglorious past make its future gloomier with each passing day.

Neither the passage of time nor sleight of hand would help Japan evade the blame for its past sexual slavery. There is no way out for Japan to escape the strong pressure of the international community for redressing the history woven with hideous crimes against humanity.

The only way out for Tokyo is to settle its inglorious past and turn over a new leaf as early as possible.
