Russian Organization Slams Japan's Suppression of Chongryon

| Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- The Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK released a statement on May 17 denouncing the Japanese authorities' moves against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The statement denounced the Japanese authorities' violent action against Korean residents in Japan and their patriotic organization Chongryon. It went on: Japan's unreasonable action will stir up distrust between Koreans in Japan and the Japanese people. It will also entail catastrophic consequences not only on the relations between the DPRK and Japan but on peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region. We strongly demand the Japanese authorities stop all suppressions of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan. |
