The championship held in China from May 19 brought together teams from 8 countries including the DPRK and Taipei of China. It was divided into two groups for league matches.

The DPRK team belonging to Group B won overwhelming victory over its rivals China, Hong Kong of China and Northern Mariana Islands. It humbled its Japanese rival 3:0 in the semifinals.

It trounced its Chinese rival 2:0 in the finals on Sunday.
