Joint National Event Marking June 15 Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The Pusan Committee for the Promotion of the Joint National Event of south Korea held a meeting at the Pusan Ilbo office on May 22 at which it called for successful holding of the joint national event to mark the 15th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.

It was attended by representatives of more than 40 political parties and civic and public organizations in the Pusan area.

Speakers at the meeting stressed the need to bring to success the joint national event for improving the relations between the south and the north.

They noted that to this end it is necessary to intensify activities to let more people participate in the event.

They stressed the need to successfully hold the event through a practical movement of the people and have the "May 24 step" lifted and the south-north relations mended despite hurdles lying in the way of reunification.
