S. Korean Authorities Urged to Lift "May 24 Step"

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Different organizations of south Korea held a meeting in Seoul on May 24 to demand the authorities lift the "May 24 step", according to south Korean internet paper Thongil News. They included the Seoul Preparatory Committee for June 15 Joint National Event, the Headquarters of the Movement for Reunified Korean Nation and the Emergency Measure Committee of the South-North Economic Cooperation Business.

At the meeting speakers termed the "step" a measure for blocking inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation.

Cooperation undertakings between the south and the north were not simple economic activities but very important work for reunification, they said, adding:

Pursuant to this "step," the authorities hamstrung the efforts for improving the inter-Korean relations and heading for reunification through soccer game of workers in the south and the north.

They urged the authorities to lift the "step" and come out for improved inter-Korean relations.
