It went on:

No sooner had the declaration been opened to public than it won positive support and sympathy from the broad international community as well as the Korean nation and there followed a dramatic change in the cause of Korea's reunification.

Inter-Korean dialogue and negotiations were held in various fields and good achievements were made for reconciliation, unity, cooperation and exchange.

Such radical changes in the north-south relations are attributable to the joint declaration that affirmed national reunification and co-prosperity by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
