Speakers said that women were the most serious victims of the war and underwent unspeakable sufferings.

They emphasized that women should take the lead in putting an end to war and to the present reality which does not allow them to visit each other in the state of division.

They called for terminating the division and handing a peaceful country to the coming generation and appealed to the women across south Korea to launch a movement for reunification.

A declaration was read out.

It underscored the need to hold the events marking the anniversary of June 15 and August 15 by the concerted efforts of the nation.
