The statement referred to the fact that Koreans in the south, the north and abroad were preparing joint national events in order to mark the 15th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation as grand festivals for national reunification to be noteworthy in the national history.

It is a pressing task for all Koreans to achieve the great national unity and open an epochal phase for peace and reunification in this significant year, the statement noted, and went on:

Having the joint national events would offer a good occasion for making enthusiasm for the national reunification that ran high in the June 15 era for reunification rage again, and achieving reconciliation and unity.

The Park Geun Hye regime encouraged the anti-DPRK leaflet scattering operations and checked the inter-Korean dialogue by setting in motion the "preparatory committee for unification" for escalating confrontation with social systems.

Successful joint national events will serve as a touchstone showing the Park Geun Hye regime's attitude to the June 15 joint declaration and the independent civic movement for national reunification.

The statement called upon the Korean people in the south, the north and abroad to pool their efforts for the successful realization of the joint national events.
