Traditional Costumes Encouraged in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- Men's traditional jacket and trousers are now popular in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In this regard, Kim Myong Sil, section chief of the Clothing Institute under the Ministry of Food and Consumer Goods Industries, said:

The Korean jacket and trousers have a long history.

In the past, the Korean men used to put on the costume in normal days, to say nothing of holidays and wedding ceremonies.

The institute has striven to develop the costume to suit the aesthetic sense of the times while keeping alive its traditional features.

It made various designs for the costume in cooperation with Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce, Pyongyang University of Fine Arts and the Korean Folklore Museum.

The institute standardized the costume's designs in accordance with physical features, ages and seasons.
