The vice-director of the institute said thanks to leader Kim Jong Il's steel-strong will for achieving reunification, great caliber and magnanimity, the north-south summit, the first kind in the history of Korea's division, was held in June 2000 and the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was published.

He went on:

Thanks to the joint declaration which command full support and sympathy among all Koreans, the north and the south could head for reconciliation, unity and cohesion.

The former Lee Myung Bak regime and the present Park Geun Hye regime of south Korea totally denied the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, the programme for implementing it, and desperately worked to escalate confrontation with the compatriots in the north to plunge the north-south relations to a catastrophe.

The Korean nation will surely build a thriving reunified country in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration.

The participants watched the Korean film "Our Country Emerging Victorious by Dint of Single-minded Unity."
