The June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, a landmark for Korea's reunification, was published in Pyongyang in June, 2000. The idea of By Our Nation Itself, the basic spirit of the joint declaration, serves as the banner of Korea's reunification.

This idea is the most reasonable and just one in light of both the reality of the Korean peninsula which has been divided due to foreign forces and the essence of the issue of Korea's reunification calling for re-linking the severed lineage of the nation.

Reflected in the spirit of By Our Nation Itself is the spirit of the great national unity. Peace and security on the Korean peninsula precisely mean peace and security of the world.

The eye-opening events that took place in the north-south relations after the publication of the joint declaration are the fruition of the idea of By Our Nation Itself. To defend and implement this idea is the only way of achieving reunification and prosperity of the Korean nation and the peace and stability in the region and the world lie in.

The validity of the joint declaration was introduced in an article posted on the website of the Anti-Imperialist Forum of Germany on May 28.
