KCNA Commentary Slams Anti-DPRK Provocative Rhetoric of New Commander of U.S. Forces in Pacific
|

Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Harry Harris, commander of the U.S. forces in the Pacific, in his inaugural speech on May 27 named the DPRK the primary target when enumerating challenges to his command. In an interview with a weekly news earlier he said north Korea is the biggest threat in the Asia-Pacific and that he gets up even in the evening because of north Korea. The U.S. return to the Asia-Pacific strategy has entered the phase of full-scale implementation and the position and role of the U.S. forces in the Pacific have steadily increased. His inauguration as the commander of the U.S. forces in the Pacific, a brass hat with a negative view on the DPRK, against this backdrop can not but reflect the U.S. policy towards it. The U.S. forces command in the Pacific with approximately 50 percent of the world areas under its control has a key role to play in meeting the U.S. world strategic interests. The main operational theatre of the U.S. world domination strategy at present is the Asia-Pacific, the Korean peninsula and its vicinity to be specific. The U.S. persistent hostile policy toward the DPRK is prompted by its fear that it would never be able to hold hegemony in the Asia-Pacific nor would it be able to realize its ambition for world domination without stifling the DPRK. The U.S. has, therefore, deliberately and systematically rendered the situation tense. It has introduced into south Korea and its vicinity huge nuclear war means to stage north-targeted nuclear war drills and turn the Asia-Pacific including the Korean peninsula into a hotspot where constant tension lingers. The appointment of the new commander of the U.S. forces in the Pacific and the clarification of his stand indicate that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK will get all the more vicious. The reality goes to prove that the army and people of the DPRK were quite just when they defended the sovereignty of the country, the lifeline of the nation, true to the Songun politics of the Workers' Party of Korea, the line on simultaneously developing the two fronts. The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK is bound to go bust. As long as the U.S. persists in its moves for war of aggression against the DPRK, being pursuant to its anachronistic hostile policy toward it, the latter will bolster up its nuclear deterrence for self-defence qualitatively and quantitatively under the uplifted banner of the above-said line. The U.S. had increased the danger of a nuclear war to the maximum, compelling the DPRK to have access to nukes. It is because of this that the U.S. is seized with extreme uneasiness. Moreover, the U.S. is much upset by the successful test of SLBM by the DPRK. All the attempts of the U.S. to threaten the DPRK's sovereignty and vital rights and play down its capabilities for self-defence are bound to fail in the end. The U.S. will never be able to have a sound sleep. |
