The team won 19 gold medals out of the 45 in 15 categories.

In particular, it bagged all gold medals in men's 69 kg and women's 63kg, 69kg and 75kg categories.

In the past the team produced a number of winners in weightlifting events of the DPRK Championships and the Sports Contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize, several of them renewing national records.

The team has also world-known weightlifting aces, among them Rim Jong Sim, who took gold medals in the 30th Olympic Games and the 6th East Asian Games, and Ryo Un Hui, who won in the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships and the 2013 Asian Weightlifting Championships.
