Anti-Japanese Youth Hero of Korea

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 99th birth anniversary of Kim Chol Ju, an indomitable revolutionary fighter of Korea. Kim Chol Ju embarked on the road of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle in his teens and had heroically fought for the liberation of Korea and its people's freedom and happiness. President Kim Il Sung stressed the need for youngsters to join efforts in the struggle for national liberation and, in hearty response to this call, Kim Chol Ju became a core member of the Saenal Children's Union, the first revolutionary organization of children in Korea. Kim Chol Ju worked heart and soul for Korea-China allied front against the Japanese, a strategic line set forth by the President. He conducted his energetic activities among Chinese anti-Japanese nationalist units to foil the Japanese imperialists' cunning moves against the allied front. He also displayed his distinguished disposition as a military strategist and bravery in many battles with the enemies. True to Kim Il Sung's line of anti-Japanese national united front, he conducted enlightenment activities among workers, peasants, intellectuals and businessmen and even landowners in Antu area to rally them around the banner of anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. On June 14, Juche 24 (1935) when he was 19 years-old, Kim Chol Ju died a heroic death in a battle with the enemies in the area of Chechangzi. He showed in practice how devotedly revolutionaries should defend their leader. |
