The declaration, which serves as a milestone for national reunification, was adopted at the inter-Korean summit, the first of its kind in the history of national division, held in June Juche 89 (2000).

Seen on the upper part of the stamp are letters "In commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration".

The stamp features the Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification with letters "June 15 joint declaration", "By our nation itself" and "Reunification guidelines common to the nation".
