The contest will take place in Phyongsong, Sariwon, Nampho and other areas. The participants will compete in more than 10 events such as football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and athletics.

Present at the ceremony were Thae Jong Su, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, sportspersons, working people and youth and students in Hamhung City.

Kim Jong Su, first vice-minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening speech.

After the ceremony there took place a men's football match between North Hwanghae Province and Rason City.
