Present there were more than 2,500 people including members of organizations, lawmakers of opposition parties and citizens.

The floor was taken by the permanent representative of the south side's preparatory committee for joint national event, the chairman of the Consultative Council of Religionists, the permanent representative of the Federation of Women's Organizations, the chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions and a lawmaker from the Democratic Alliance for New Politics.

The speakers expressed regret at the separate holding of the June 15 joint national event, insisting that the Park Geun Hye regime is to blame for this.

If the authorities respect the joint declaration, they should prove it in practice and, to this end, make a switchover in their "policy toward the north", to begin with, they noted. They demanded the authorities meet with the north at an early date on the basis of the joint declaration to make open-hearted, unreserved and sincere discussion for reunification.

The August 15 joint national event being pushed forward to usher in another June 15 era of reunification is the one for the nation, they said.

An appeal of All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration was read out at the meeting.

At the end of the meeting the participants marched as far as Seoul Square holding slogan "Lift May 24 step and roll back policy toward north!"
