Read out at the inaugural ceremony was the appeal "Let's more dynamically conduct international solidarity movement for supporting Korea's independent and peaceful reunification" made by the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea.

Javid Ahmad, chairman of the Kuwait Asian Journalist Association who doubles as director of the administrative department of the Kuwait Times Publishing House, was elected chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to give wide publicity to the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it, the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and other just reunification proposals made by the DPRK conduct activities for supporting peace and reunification of Korea.
