There took place in Yanji a pledge-making meeting of the Yanbian Regional Association of the General Association of Koreans in China.

The full text of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was read out at the meeting.

Speakers at the meeting recalled that eye-opening successes unimaginable in the past were achieved in the movement for national reunification under the banner of By Our Nation Itself in the June 15 era and the climate of national reconciliation, unity and cooperation prevailed throughout Korea and the validity and vitality of the joint declaration were fully demonstrated all over the world.

They expressed the will to more dynamically work to open up a wide avenue to independent reunification this significant year marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Korea in the belief that national reunification would surely be achieved thanks to Marshal Kim Jong Un.

At the end of the meeting the participants watched the Korean film "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Meets President Kim Dae Jung".

On the same day round-table talks, seminars and other diverse events took place to mark the anniversary in branches of the regional associations of the General Association of Koreans in China.
