S. Korean Organizations Call for Success of August 15 Joint National Event

Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Organizations in different sectors and 14 regional headquarters including the Workers, Farmers, Youth and Students, Media and Academic Headquarters under the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration held a joint press conference proclaiming "the period of June 15-August 15 joint campaign" in Seoul on June 15, according to the south Korean internet paper Thongil News.

The organizations declared they would make all efforts to successfully ensure the joint national event marking the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation and preserve the independence of the nation and peace.

They said that under the slogan "Meeting leads to reunification!" they would work hard for the success of the nationwide joint event in Pyongyang on August 15 this year, the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Noting that the organizations would promote again the holding of workers' football game for reunification on the occasion of August 15, they warned if the authorities block it, they will brand them as an unjust regime and fight against it.

Then, they held a symbolic ceremony of demanding the lifting of "May 24 step" and denouncing the U.S. attempt to wage a germ war and Japan's moves to revive militarism.
