The joint statement fully supported the statement of the DPRK government "It is necessary to open up an epochal phase in the development of the north-south relations under the banner of the historic June 15 joint declaration".

The June 15 joint declaration is a shining result brought about by leader Kim Jong Il's unremitting efforts and Songun politics, it said, and went on:

Owing to the vicious moves of the Lee Myung Bak conservative group of south Korea totally denying the joint declaration, the inter-Korean relations went back to the past era of the confrontation and the ensuing catastrophic phase has reached more serious stage.

The south Korean authorities should stop at once the war drills against the DPRK which they stage in collusion with the U.S. and their groundless "human rights" racket against the DPRK.

We sincerely hope that the DPRK's proposals would bring about good results in the struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.
