Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- South Korean victims of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army held a press conference in Kwangju City, Kyonggi Province on June 23, calling for a legal action to pressurize Japan to settle its past crimes. At the conference, speakers accused the Japanese government of distorting the truth of history and insulting victims despite the fact that the victims are suffering pain still now. They clarified they would file a suit in a court against Japanese enterprises recorded with war crimes including Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, the present prime minister and conservative media which insulted the victims of the sexual slavery as prostitutes. It is essential to force the Japanese authorities to make a sincere apology, they said. More than 40 civic organizations including the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps in south Korea held an urgent press conference outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul on the same day to denounce the Japanese government for working hard to hush up the past crimes. |
