Speakers said as soon as the new "prime minister" took office, the security authorities issued warrants for search and confiscation in a bid to intensify the suppression of the organization.

Through the frantic suppression of bereaved families the authorities try to drive a wedge between the bereaved families and civic organizations, they noted, declaring their will to intensify the struggle for probing the truth behind the ferry disaster.

The April 16 Solidarity held the inaugural meeting of the organization in Seoul on June 28.

Speakers there expressed the will to make efforts for implementing the four-point tasks such as probing the truth behind the ferry Sewol disaster, early salvaging of the sunken ferry, making safe society and promoting the April 16 human rights declaration movement.
