Suneet Chopra, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and secretary general of the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to arrange a remembrance meeting, seminar, film show and other political and cultural events on the 21st anniversary of demise of the President.
