Signal Successes Achieved in Environmental Protection

Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has paid big efforts to protecting environment. In this regard, Kim Yong Chol, department director of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, told KCNA that the DPRK government has made signal successes in environmental protection over the past 10 years. He said: A series of laws on environmental protection were enacted in the country, making it possible to supervise environmental protection in a unified way with an increasing number of observation posts set up throughout the country. Industrial establishments have given priority to removing harmful gas and dust and purifying waste water. And strides have been made in afforesting villages, streets and working places. In the near future, a real-time system for observing the environmental change would be set up on a countrywide scale. The DPRK has pushed ahead with the building of environment-friendly economy. |
