Anhwa Temple Restored in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- The Anhwa Temple dating back to Koryo Kingdom (918-1392) was restored in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The temple is located in Mt. Songak in Koryo-dong, Kaesong City.

According to an official concerned, its restoration was made under an agreement signed between the DPRK National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and the German embassy in Pyongyang in October 2014.

The temple was initially built in August 930 on the initiative of Wang Kon (877-943), the founder of Koryo, to pray for the soul of his cousin Wang Sin, who laid down his life in a struggle for territorial integration. Then it turned into a national temple in the period of Yejong (1106-1122), the 16th king of Koryo.

Historical records say that the temple was widely known to other countries for its splendor and frequently visited by the successive kings of Koryo Dynasty.

The Anhwa Temple represents the architectural skills of Korean ancestors.

Ro Chol Su, vice-director of the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, said the authority would continue cooperation with other countries in the protection of the nation's cultural heritage.
