L. Shukolinikov, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Workers' Party of Belarus who doubles as chairman of the Permanent Standing Committee of the Belarus National Association of Friends of Korean People Named after Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee groups personages from political parties and organizations including the above-said party and association, the National Social Federation "For the Union and Union's Communist Party", the International Social Federation "For Motherland and Stalin" and the Social Association "For Democracy, Social Progress and Justice".

The committee decided to organize diverse political and cultural events on the occasion of Korea's liberation (August 15).
