Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Korean women made a great contribution to winning the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) by displaying the spirit of self-sacrifice and patriotic devotion. The Korean women had performed great feats during the Fatherland Liberation War to defeat the armed invasion of the U.S. imperialists, said War veteran To Yun Ok, adding: After the liberation of the country from Japan's colonial rule over Korea, they led a happy life as masters of the country, the masters of the factory and land for five years. When the U.S. imperialists ignited a war against the DPRK, they did not hesitate to send their husbands, sons and daughters to the front and volunteered themselves for military services to defend their happy life. Among them are a number of heroines like An Yong Ae, Jo Sun Ok, Thae Son Hui and Jo Ok Hui who devoted their life to the sacred war for defending the country. In the period of the war, the Korean women in the rear turned out as one in the wartime production under the slogan "The rear is, as it were, the front!" assisting the Korean People's Army materially and morally. They were convinced that the victory was in store for them as they were led by President Kim Il Sung. Though 62 years have passed after the war, the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and the country displayed by them in the period of war is creditably carried forward by the coming generations. |
