S. Korean Bodies Accuse Regime of Trampling down Democracy and Human Rights
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Civic and social organizations in south Korea including the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy held a Wednesday rally in Seoul on July 23 in protest against the regime's suppression.

Kwon O Hon, honorary chairman of the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, deplored the situation where such repressive actions as forcible search, arrest, detention and indictment are being perpetrated by the regime almost every day against the personages conducting activities for independence, democracy and reunification under the pretext of security.

Choe Hyon Mu, secretary general of the Society for Human Rights Movement, termed security authorities' detention of Pak Rae Gun, co-chairman of the All-People Measure Council for Ferry Sewol Disaster, an undemocratic action and human rights abuse.

He called on the public to stage actions against the security authorities keen on repressive actions.

Om Kyong Hui, member of the Measure Committee of Families of Victims of Attempted Rebellion Case, said those concerned of the former Unified Progressive Party are still being suppressed due to the evil "Security Law," urging the regime to set free all prisoners of conscience who struggled to achieve independence, democracy and reunification.
