After laying a solid material and technical basis for their cultivation, the Jagang Provincial Forest Science Institute created over hundred hectares of experimental forests in different parts of the province, including Manpho City, and Songgan and Rangrim counties.

Among those good species of trees under cultivation are chestnut, Aronia melanocarpa and lime trees. They also include new species of oil-bearing trees and ornamental trees.

Now the institute is striving to produce thousands of grape and Aronia melanocarpa saplings by the method of tissue culture, while pushing ahead with the cultivation of saplings of chestnut, yew and lime trees.
