A kick-off meeting took place before the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo in Hyesan City, Ryanggang Province on Aug. 10.

The participants laid a floral basket and bouquets before the statue of President Kim Il Sung at the monument and paid tribute to him.

Han Kyong Song, vice-chairperson of the Central Committee of the union, made a report to be followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers said that the study tour will mark an important occasion in hardening the firm faith of officials and members of the union to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche that started in Mt. Paektu by raising a strong wind of education in the revolutionary traditions at all its organizations.

They called upon all participants of the study tour to further cherish the greatness and immortal revolutionary feats of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu and deeply grasp the transparent spirit of devotedly defending the leader and indomitable fighting spirit displayed by the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners.

They called for learning from the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and hard fortitude displayed by the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters and thus stepping up a socialist emulation for increased production and discharging the duty as the patriotic farmers in the era of Songun remaining true with rice to the party's plan for building a thriving nation.

At the end of the meeting, the participants in the study tour left for Pochonbo.
