Rafael Mariano, president of the Philippine Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to organize events in different cities including the capital and some universities on the occasion of Korea's meaningful days.

They included events of giving wide publicity to the history of struggle of the DPRK and its people for building socialism and achieving national reunification and signature-collection drives for supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and demanding the withdrawal of the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK and pullback of the U.S. forces from south Korea and conclusion of a peaceful agreement between the DPRK and the U.S.
