Present at the meeting were members of the Changwon Progressive Federation, Changwon City Branch of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and the Kyongnam Workers' Vanguard for Reunification and other people of various circles.

Speakers said that the stability on the Korean Peninsula is impossible without the removal of the danger of a war.

They accused the U.S. forces of threatening the lives of the south Koreans while conducting tests of germ weapons after introducing anthrax germs in camera.

They stressed that only when the GIs are driven out of south Korea, the safety of its people can be protected.

A declaration for peaceful reunification was read out at the meeting.

The declaration said;

The suffering of national division continues until now, the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Japan's rearmament and the U.S. moves of backing it are escalating the military tension on the Korean Peninsula and in its surrounding areas.

Japan should make a sincere apology and reparation for its past crimes.

We accuse the U.S. of encouraging Japan to distort history and revive militarism.

The declaration appealed to the whole nation to achieve the reunification by its concerted efforts.
